My name is James Brown, Jim to my friends and Customers. As you might guess, I am new to the business of selling fine mineral, rock and crystal specimens. I apologize in advance for any mistakes I have made regarding the information on my site and, would appreciate your feedback on how to make it better. I have decided to start my business modestly and build over time, as I learn more about the fine mineral specimens market and collectors like you. At this stage, I am specializing in mostly cabinet size fine mineral specimens in the price range of $50 to $3,000.
My site has eleven (11) galleries (several pages each) of mixed fine mineral specimens. They are trully mixed, as I followed no specific plan in organizing the mixed mineral galleries. If you are like me, I like scrolling through entire sites anyway until something strikes my attention. My site is not so big that this would take you a long time anyway.
Other than mixed fine mineral specimens, I have two (2) galleries of Rogerley Mine Fluorite. These are not the highest collector quality, which go into thousands of dollars, but they are generally good to very good quality. In addition, I have consolidated all Rhodocrosite specimens into one Rhodocrosite Gallery (with 3 pages) and, I have added two Galleries for Spanish Fluorite and associated minerals. Also, I added a Bargain Gallery (2 pages) with great discounts off original list price. Finally, I just added a Gallery for Extra Large Mineral Specimens.
All the photographs on the site were taken by me, predominantly using a Canon Digital Rebel XT 300D 8 megapixel camera. I take pictures in the sun, which favors most fine mineral specimens and have also included photos taken under artificial light using a light tent cube and fluorecsent lighting suitable for digital photography. As you will see by the range of photos, lighting, backdrops, etc., I am still very much in the early learning stages. However, I am having a lot of fun learning at your expense, that is, providing you buy something. Needless to say, I love the beauty of fine mineral specimens and I love the challenge of trying to capture some of that beauty through photography. Any hints you can send me on getting better at mineral photography will be very appreciated.
I hope this serves as a suitable introduction of myself and my business
- Hummingbird Minerals. I look forward to doing business with you and will do my best to assure it is a satisfying experience.
